We recently saw the results of another study that reveals one of the many benefits of meditation. A reduced number of deaths due to heart disease was reported in a study conducted by the Medical College of Wisconsin. The study was about the effects of transcendental meditation and it was funded by the Maharishi University in Iowa.

Two groups were studied for nine years. One group was told to meditate for 20 minutes two times per day. The second group did not meditate but were given instructions on making lifestyle changes following traditional ways to lower a person’s chances of getting heart disease.

At the end of the study, the group that meditated had 47 percent fewer strokes, heart attacks and deaths than didn’t meditate.

Despite the fact that this study was based on people doing transcendental meditation, we feel that the use of Holosync  CDs and similar brain wave technology would probably produce similar results. What do you think?

Of course you know that meditation is good for you. It’s been proven that people who meditate on a regular basis are healthier of both mind and body.

Today I came across some useful information about other things in addition to meditation that you can do to encourage brain wellness. These are tips for improving memory and concentration.

  1. Feed your head. It’s true that fish is brain food. Fish fats that have a lot of DHA and omega 3 essential fatty acids are especially good. Besides salmon and tuna, cashews and almonds are also excellent brain foods.
  2. Do puzzles. They exercise your brain just as pumping iron builds better biceps. Sudoku and crossword puzzles are more than just time wasters!
  3. Watch out for cigarettes, whiskey and wild wild women. Actually, that’s more poetic than true. Fact is, alcohol, nicotine and caffeine have negative impacts on brain functions.
  4. Catch enough z’s. Eight hours of sleep are recommended for maximum power of concentration.
  5. Yoga. Say no more. It’s been around forever, because it’s unmatched in its mind-conditioning power.
  6. And, of course, meditation. Meditating is one of the best known ways to lower your stress level, and too much stress can literally be fatal.
